Downloading eBooks/ Using Adobe Digital Editions

I have the app downloading and I have authorized my computer so now I'm trying to downlaod my eBooks. I'm watching a tutorial and on his screen, he has options in the top left corner like 'file' 'edit' 'view' 'help', I don't. I only have 'file' 'library' and 'help', that's it. Does anyone know why? In the tutorial, it says to use the link provided on my AVID account and search it on the app however I can't do this, at least not the way he does it in the tutorial.
