Downloading purchased e-books

I have purhased e-books from a store for a number of years now.  I have recently purchased a Kobo Glo and still have a Sony e-reader.  I am now unable to download any purchased books.  I have installed Adobe Digital Editions 4.  On my Reader for PC, the book looks like it is going to download but a message appears that the it failed to download contents.
