E_ADEPT_INTERNAL message when I try to open books in ADE library

I have recently downloaded ADE 4.5 on my new MacBook Pro and when I try to open the books in my library I get the message "Activation Server error code E_ADEPT_INTERNAL Digital Editions encounter and error on the activation server". I think it has something to do with activation of my account (which apparently is licensed and activated) but may have to be unauthorized and then re-authorized?

I have tried unsuccessfully to get help now for OVER ONE WEEK !!! Can someone please help me?
