E_IO_CANNOT_OPEN and Check Activation

I'm running windows 10 and cannot get my ADE to run properly. When I open it I get E_IO_CANNOT_OPEN. When I try to add a ebook file to my nook, I get Check Activation. Both my device and ADE are registered to the same account. I factory restarted my device and lost all my books. I've been trying to figure this out for hours. I'm about to pull my hair out!

Please help!
