Embed videos on PDF

After doing the embed on my PDF, I tried to read this PDF with a normal windows reader but the embed videos just wouldn't show up. My question is: How can other people without Adobe Acrobat/Reader can see my embed videos on PDF?

    Acrobat Reader is the normal windows reader.

    I thinl (?) it can handle videos.  Unfortunately, it cannot read DRM .pdf files.

    Digital Editions can read DRM .pdf files, but can't (I think) do videos.

    Maybe when you installed Digital Editions it stole the .pdf file association from Acrobat Reader?

    As long as you don't apply DRM to your .pdfs, most people should be able to view them with the standard reader including videos.

    sigh...

    There is nothing called "Acrobat Reader" and never has been.

    We have Adobe Reader (free, for PDF files), Adobe Acrobat (not free) and Adobe Digital Editions (free, for eBooks).

    In terms of desktop software, only Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat will display embedded rich media annotations properly. Third-party software such as OS X Preview or the inbuilt renderers in Firefox and Saferi will ignore it completely.

    Sorry, yes, Adobe Reader is the name for the 'normal' Windows reader. 

    As you don't seem interested in the DRM issues, this is probably on the wrong forum (Digital Editions)

    If you want people to read files that require (free) Adobe Reader, I guess they will just have to install it.

    It would be handy if there was some way of making readers that don't support the video put out a message telling them to install the full reader, though.

    Maybe there is (equivalent to alt text for images in html) ~ I'm afraid I'm not up on pdf details.
