eReader doesn't show up in ADE

We cannot transfer books to our eReaders because neither of our Kobo Libro H20's show up in the ADE sidebar. I have the latest edition. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have tried unauthorizing and reauthorizing. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the ereader per the instructions in the help file. No difference. Neither device shows up in ADE to authorize so I can't authorize either of them and can't transfer books. Help please?

I have a different type of ereader (Pocketbook) and it must be powered on prior to connecting it to the computer in order for the computer to recognize it and display it in  ADE.
