Error Check Activation

I am trying to add a downloaded book. I get a message "Error Check Activation"

The book does not appear in my library although it downloaded.

Other books open with no problem.

I previously updated the reader but when I got this message on a number of occasions I bit the bullet and downloaded and reinstalled Adobe Digital Editions. No luck. Where to now?
