"Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY"

I'm trying to transfer an ebook that I downloaded from my public library. Whenever I try to open the book in Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 I get this error message:

"Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:

E_ACT_NOT_READY"

I've also tried using the Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.2, but I get an error message in my nook: "User is not Activated" after registering my Adobe ID and device.

All I want to do is read my ebook from the library on my nook.
I've already contacted Barnes & Noble and suggest that this is a software issue and not Barnes & Noble.
Any help would be much appreciated.
