error getting license. license server communication problem: e_adept_document_type_unknown

ADE 4.5.5 took 16 .ascm from Google Books and fulfilled 12 to .epub. The 4 not fulfilled all reflected the same error message listed in my title. I've used ADE for years to do this without problem. I don't understand, looking through all of the stated problems like this, why Adobe doesn't have a solution; or at least an explanation.
