Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_MISSING_ELEMENT

Question

For years I’ve been downloading acsm files from the library > double-click opens ADE > copies book to Kobo (plugged into my PC)

Since yesterday, I’ve downloaded the acsm umpteen times, de-authorised / authorised the PC several times but no improvement.

I have most recently tried deleting the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Re-authorising the PC put the key back …. but didn’t change the result … it’s the same error.

Hopefully, someone can tell me how to move forward with this … 😮

I’ve been told by Bolinda Digital (Borrowbox) whose library software creates the acsm file, that the issue is with Adobe.

Bolinda suggested that I not only de-authorize but also delete a file …

“C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Digital Editions and delete the activation.dat”

However, in my Windows 11, ADE simply does not create an entry in Roaming\Adobe.

Can anyone with Windows 11 and ADE version 4 5 12 tell me if they have an ADE folder or file in Roaming … and maybe what it looks like ???
