I'm using Adobe Digital Editions on Windows 10 and I tried to download a book (https://archive.org/details/herculepoirotsca00chri/) in PDF with Adobe Digital Editions, but the E_STREAM_ERROR appears! When I wrote to info@archive.org, they said you can download it if you use the software on Mac.
