Error message E_ACT_NOT_READY

Just downloaded and installed the ADE 4.5.4 on my Mac and also downloaded a book from ProQuest Ebook Central. As trying to open the downloaded book, this is how far I can get - An Error message like this:

Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:

E_ACT_NOT_READY

Could someone help please?
