error "user not activated". B&N says I can't use ADE anymore.

I have a nook color and have been downloading library books for years.  All of a sudden on July 1st, I get this error message "user not activated". I spent about 25 hours trying to fix it. Deleting files, deactivating ADE and nook reactivating, everything I could find online.  Finally I gave up and called B&N, after waiting about 30 minutes, they told me that I could no longer use ADE to download my books.  Now I have to use overdrive.  No questions. I have to find a wireless access point to download the overdrive media console and they every time I want to download my books.  Has anyone heard of this?  Do I have a different solution?
