have reader and ADE installed; library books willnot download to or open in ADE

I have had Adobe reader for awhile on my pc and have used it. Just downloaded ADE for library books. Books will not download into ADE (adobe digital editions) nor will they open. I am registered - it shows that. Any suggestions
