having difficulty getting epub 2.0 or 3.0 to work.

have downloaded 2.0 and 3.0 with same results; error message appears that says Adobe encountered a problem and must shut down sorry for any inconvenience. no error number or any other reference shows. 

  I have windows XP and Internet Explorer 8.  what is the solution?
