HELP - Upgraded to Windows Vista, PDF option no longer available in Word

Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows Vista and use
Word 2007. Prior to this, whenever I started
Word 2003, I'd have a "Convert to PDF" option in
my Tools - now that no longer exists.

I tried re-installing Adobe Acrobat 7 and
whenever I try to make a PDF file (I need
to have clickable links), I get the error
message:

Missing PDFMaker files.

Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?

When I try this, I have to reboot the machine and
then it goes thru it a second time.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Barbara

I am going to just stay with XP. Vista does not work for me at all.

Somebody suggested OpenOffice earlier, yes it has a PDF option that works well but OpenOffice has a nice learning curve to it. If you have time to learn something new that might work but I am guessing that after investing in office 2007 you don't feel like giving up on it. I have tried the Office add-in also but found it very limiting, ultimately I went with Acrobat 8 and now I have my full range of pdf options again.

Acrobat 7 is indeed not compatible with Word 2007.

You either have to move to a later version of Acrobat or you could try using the Microsoft Office Add-in which enables saving as PDF or XPS. It's at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4D951911-3E7E-4AE6-B059-A2E79ED87041&displaylang=en and is extremely quick but it doesn't have very many customisation options.

We tried the Office add-in for a while but it wasn't flexible enough for our purposes so we moved to Acrobat 8.

You could always try downloading OpenOffice, the free alternative to Word. This has a 'convert to pdf' option which works well.

I think I'm gonna stick to XP if that is the case.

You need to upgrade Acrobat as well as Word and Windows.
