Highlighting and Notes Gone

Today Adobe Digital Editions crashed, and I lost hours and hours of work. When I reopened the book I had been reading, all my annotations and highlights were gone. I contacted support and was told to post here, even though a similar thread from 2020 has received no fixes. Please help!
