Highlighting and notes keep disappearing

Hi there,

I have the newest version of Digital Editions (just downloaded it today) but I am having an issue where all of my highlighting and notes disappear every time I close the application! Is there a way I can recover the highlights and notes that I've lost, and is there a way for me to prevent them from disappearing in the future? Thanks in advance.
