Question

How can I deauthorise a mac using an inaccessible email and re authorise with a new email

I just bought a kobo. I am trying to authorize the device. I have re-installed adobe digital editions. I have my mac authorised BUT it is using a very old email address which is no longer active. I can't d-authorize my mac as I no longer have access to the email account and can't retrieve my password. I tried to set up a new account to access all my books and re-authorize my computer (and also my new KOBO) but am unable to do any of the above. I need to deauthorize my computer or link my old inaccessible adobe id to my new id- BUT can't deauthorize as I no longer have access to the old email....

PLEASE HELP 🙂

    Hi,

I had a similar problem and couldn't access my email address anymore and thus couldn't de-authorize my computer.

In another thread I found the hint, that there is a activation.dat file holding the credentials. I searched for this file on my macbook and found it in the folder /System/Volumes/Data/Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions There I just removed the activation.dat and restartet the Adobe Digital Editions. Now I was able to register a new account and re-authorize my computer.

This seems a quite hacky solution.  Afterwards you won't be able to open any book registered with another account. Keep in mind that this method will modify system files which are not designed to be editable by users in general (otherwise it would be accessible at a more prominent place). Everything you are going to do is at your own risk.

At least it worked for me.
