how can i install adobe digital editions on my kobo touch ereader?

i have a kobo touch ereader. I like to load epub and pdf etc... uable to do so. Can you help

My kobo touch is about 2 years old and the software is 1.9.17. (r37581 3/16/12. i am really stuck. what can i do?
