How do I open an ACSM file on a Mac M1?

I have been trying on and off for an hour to download Adobe Digital Editions to open a .ascm file that I need to access for mhy job, but it send me to a page in India and then says I can't down load it and then to a page where there is only an app for IOS. Is there no desktop version? 

This is very frustrating!
