How do I read a book that I have on my laptop in Adobe Digital Editions on a KOBO ereader arc?

I have bought a KOBO arc specifically to read textbooks which are provided in Adobe Digital Editions. But when I try to download ADE for Kobo it says it isn't compatible. Any help?
