How do I upgrade from ADE 2.0 to ADE 4.0 without losing an authorization?

If I do Ctrl-Shift-D to delete the authorization, ADE says this will not increase the number of authorizations. If I just uninstall ADE 2.0 using Add or Remove Programs, does this increase the number of authorizations?
