How do I download books in adobe digital editions from my computer to my iPad?

Adobe Reader only reads PDF files and has nothing to do with Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe has not released ADE for an iPad.

You should go to the Apple Store on your iPad and download iBooks from Apple. It does a great job of reading EPUB files.
