How to get ebooks from Google Play to ADE without a PC

I want to transfer some books from Google Play to my Reader.

My laptop has died.

I donloaded the .ascm files,; however the ADE app (on Chromebook and Android tablet) has no option to add/import.

Attempting to open the ascm file with ADE results in the message:

"Unable to download

Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:

E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED"

What can I do to resolve this? I am NOT buying a new laptop!
