How to get Kobo e-reader authorized after Mac laptop is authorized. Kobo instructions do not work.

I've authorized ADE on my Mac laptop and want my Kobo e-reader to pick up books borrowed from public library. Kobo's instructions don't help, as there doesn't appear to be a way to authorize the e-reader.
