How to get number of machines authorised reset

We have reached the limit of 6 machines authorised to our Adobe Id.  We have deactivated one machine (using CTRL/SHIFT/D) and tried to activate another but got the error message" Number of Machines Allowed per ID Exceeded". How can we fix this?
