How to Type on e-book in Adobe digital editions

Hey guys! I recently bought an e-workbook for school and I'm not able to use my keyboard to type or add comments on the workbook file. As the e-book is in the Adobe Editions software, when I right-click the add comment or highlight options are greyed out. Does anyone know how I can digitally write directly on the e-book?

I also have a problem with the option being grey. I am able to highlight like once or twice, but then it becomes greyed out
