I have had the library working on it they have no idea - I have tried 3 different books and all the same information.  I recently upgraded my digital editions from 3.0 to 4.0 then 4.0.3  Ihabe uninstalled and reinstalled I have cold booted between each I have tried to unauthorise my computer it wont let me.

I am getting extremely annoyed and frustrated with this.  ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

For this problem, you need to deauthorize and authorize ADE again.

If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps:

    Mac:

    1. Go-> Go to folder.

Go to folder dialog will appear.

    2. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions

drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

    ADE will be deauthorized now.

    Now Authorize ADE again.

    ADE will be deauthorized now.

    Now Authorize ADE again.

    Windows:

    Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

    Your authorization will be deleted.

    ADE will be deauthorized now.

    Now Authorize ADE again.

    Error will be fixed !!

Shreya,  you are a gem.  Thank you for this information.  I am running Windows 8 and have been struggling with this issue for a month.  I have spent a couple of hours on chat lines, support here and there, deleted and re-installed ADE and generally doing a lot of hair pulling.  I was leery of deleting something from the registry, but when I did, the computer was de-authorized and I had no trouble authorizing it again.  Only other thing I had to do was reset my password, and ADE started working again.

Thanx again.  I've already given you a like.  I may go back an give a couple more likes.
