I can't erase the authorization on Digital Editions

I guess I've forgotten the password I used when authorizing ADE, so I changed my password on my adobe account and tried the new password in ADE to deauthorize. That didn't fix anything and I'm still unable to erase my authorization, I have no idea what to do now. Any ideas?
