I can't sign in to erase computer authorization on adobe digital editions

When I try to download a book I get the "Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY" message.  So I try to erase the authorization as I see instructed, but it keeps telling me my password is wrong.  I've verified the password repeatedly.
