I have ADE on my macbook, i downloaded a book from library which shows in ADE. When i plug in my Kobo, it does not show

I recently purchased a new macbook and downloaded ADE.  I downloaded a book from the library which shows in the ADE, however, when i plug in my Kobo, the Kobo does not register on the left hand side. Has anyone else had this issue?

    I have ADE on my windows computer and have the same problem. When I plug in my Kobo reader it doesn't show on the left side. I can't transfer my ebook to my reader. Did you find a fix for yourself?
