I have sold 3 devices and have not been able to delete them using ctrl shift and d

I want to download books with ADE using mini iPad, but keep getting that I have too many devices authorised.  I no longer own them and have been unable to delete them.  I have tried control, shift and D but it doesn't work.  Have been trying now for nearly 5 weeks
