I need help?

i purchased a book from kobo reader store and downloaded it to adobe digital editions. when i tried to connect my sony ereader to download the book to that, my ereader wouldnt register in the program. Have sony ereaders become incompatible with everything now and i wasted my money? i have a PRS-505 if that helps anything.
