I successfully installed Adobe Digital Edition but the application will not open

I installed Adobe Digital Edition for Windows on a Windows 7 PC.  It successfully installed, but the application will not open.  I double click on the icon and it gives the borders, but never opens.  I have waited 30 minutes and still nothing.
