Impossible to turn page in ADE 4.0.3 on OS X Yosemite

I am trying to use ADE 4.0.3 on OS X Yosemite.

It is terribly slow!

I can't turn the pages of a large E-Book that I have just purchased. The page turn controls are always disabled!

If I enter the page number directly into a small text box that is shown at the bottom of the window, it goes to the given page but it takes over 5 seconds to do so.

In addition, the mouse cursor icon keeps turning into the small colorful 'please wait' icon of Mac OS.

I see hundreds of people complaining about problems with this application all over the web, and Adobe seems to just not care at all!

It is very disappointing!

    I just today downloaded ADE and am frustrated by the same problem.

    Is this is truly a reader then why not enable page turning.

    I have read on some posts today that indicate it can be done but still people were having a lot of problems with it.  IF there is a way to change the view the user interface is not clear.
