Installing Adobe Reader 10 / 9 / X fails

After having downloaded the executable install-file in my download-area I dubbelclick that file, answer "Yes" at the question whether I am sure . . .  and then nothing happens any more. In my Process  list there is a new process "install_reader10_nl_mssd_aaa_aih". This process stays there but nothing happens. The installationfile then is removed from out of my download area. When I wait 4 hours nothing has changed, that is: Adobe Reader is not installed. What do i do wrong?
