Issues opening book with Digital Editions - crashing each time

Every time I open a book on Digital Editions on my Macbook it keeps crashing and I get the following error message. I can open it on my phone - but this is not ideal for reading. 

Any help is appreciated, already tried to contact Adobe customer service and they were reluctant to help?
