issues with Adobe Digital Editions 4.5

Hi, I have been having troubled with Adobe Digital Editions 4.5. I live chatted with Adobe, and they said they no longer have support for that application, but to see if I can get help from here. 

The application has become really slow and does not scroll when I want it too. I have to wait like 10 minutes to move from, for example, page 1 to page 2. There has also been a multi-coloured button that pops up when It needs to load per what I want it to do and stays there, I force the application to quit, and then I lose everything that I had highlighted or added notes in the book. 

Has anyone had this issue, if so how did you fix it?
