Kindle not showing as device in ADE

I have latest version of ADE and kindle, when I plug into my macbook, my kindle shows as a device on my macbook but when I launch ADE it isn't showing there like the ADE guide says it should. I've tried chatting to the help thing and they sent me here. I've tried looking for this topic but any time anyone has posted this same quesiton no one has answered it. How can I get my kindle to show as a device in ADE?
