Kobo and Adobe

Is this a full Windows 8 tablet, or a Windows RT tablet?

ADE should work on a full Windows 8 tablet.

I understand it will read the newer Kobo books (which use Adobe DRM) but not older ones (which used proprietry DRM), but that may not be correct.

ADE will not work on a Windows RT tablet.

This is the same as with Android and IOS, where you need to use third party apps instead (Bluefire, Aldiko, Overdrive).

There are very few DRM supporting DRM apps on Windows RT, see the thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1125028?tstart=0

DL Reader and Overdrive seems the only options, with reservations about both.

p.s. There are quite a few issues with the current ADE2.0/2.0.1.

Some people find the older v1.7.2 works better.  If you have issues with 2.0.1, try 1.7.2.

(I mainly use 1.7.2 as one of the 2.0 bugs is that it doews not work with Sony ereaders for Overdrive library books.)

(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)

Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically. 

It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.

Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.
