Kobo ereader - ADE not recognizing device cant download Epub to my reader

ADE 3.00 is not recognizing my Kobo Aura ereader. My computer recognizes the reader but ADE does not.  I was previously using 2.0 but have now installed 3.00 with the help of Kobo support, who were fantastic. Kobo support exhausted all avenues and everything relating to Koba authorization etc is in order and they have advised me that the problem lies with ADE. I am unable to transfer EPub books from the library to my Kobo.

The problem started when I had my computer "serviced". I have been back to the company who did the virus scans/removals and tune up but they have been unable to help me as they know nothing about readers.

I hope someone out there has the answer.
