I had the same problem.  On ADE they were showing up on my lookbook...but not on the actual lookbook itself.  On your eReader...go to the Documents tab.  The books might be there.  Once you click on them there and they open, they will then show up on your "I'm reading" tab.  Also, depending on what you downloaded, if you click on the information for the book it might say that it is only readable on your computer.  I am not a 'computer' type person...so I found this all out accidentally, ha!

Part of my frustration is with Microsoft. Win 7 and XP should work the same

way when it comes to handling external devices plugged into a USB port - but

sometimes they don't. This seems to be one of those times.... Your

Literati should show up as an external hard drive in Win 7 within moments of

being plugged in. And when you open ADE, it should show the Literati (or

any other ereader) almost immediately. I don't understand the delay you've

been experiencing, unless Win 7 or your anti-virus software is doing a full

scan on the ereader before it shows you the linkage.

If you drag and drop an edocument from ADE to your ereader, its placement on

your ereader depends on what kind of edocument it is. epub's should show up

as 'books', while pdf''s should show up as 'documents'. The Literati is

programmed to do that. ADe doesn't care that much - it lumps them together

in the Library. Cookiewelder hit that nail on the head....

Cookiewelder? I usually eat mine whole.

    Hi,

In order to fix this you can try following.

Solution 1) Modify the manifest.xml file located in C:\Usres\Username\My Documents\My Digital Editions:
    1) Quit Digital Editions
    2) Make a backup copy of the manifest.xml (call it something like manifest.good)
    3) Open manifest.xml in notepad
    4) It will appears as one big long line of xml, and you are looking for a tag called  start at the begginning of this
and select until you the end of the tag that looks called </de:deviceID>
    5) If you have attached more than one Reader there may be multiple of these.  Delete all of them to make sure.
    6) Save the file (manifest.xml) and quit out of notepad
    7) Ensure you have the Reader plugged in
    8) Launch Digital Editions
    9) The Device Setup Assitant should come up.
      a) Do NOT click on the "Don't ask again for this device" checkbox.
      b) Do click on the "Authorize Device" button.

Solution 2) 1) Open Digital Editions.
                        2) Connect the Reader and open it.
                        3) Press the keys Ctrl + Shift + E  on your keyboard.
                        4) Now unplug the Reader and replug it.
                        5) There you will find a new drive created similar to C or D drive under "My computer".
                        6) Open the Readers Drive and you will find one or two folders with name adobe.digital.editions.
                        7) Delete this folder and plug off and re plug in the Reader.
                        8) Authorize Reader from the same Adobe ID which you used to Authorize Adobe Digital Editions.

I hope this will work for you!!!!

When you activate your Literati with Kobo, you will need to set up an

account with Kobo. You may never use it for downloading ebooks, but it's

required for your Literati to be 'registered'. You registered with Adobe as

well, so when you use ADE to connect to the Literati, it will pick up the

registration and permit you to attach the Literati to ADE so you can

transfer ebooks. Here are some items to check:

You should set up your Literati to access the Kobo bookstore wirelessly.

That's important because Kobo delivers software updates to your Literati via

wireless - and you need the latest update so that ADE will work correctly

    with it.

You need to attach your Literati to your computer first, so it has a chance

to recognize the Literati and set it up as a USB drive (PC's) or external

    hard drive (Mac's).

Then, open the ADE application. It should recognize the Literati in the

Library pane, on the left hand side. You can then drag and drop ebooks from

the right hand pane to the Literati.

I do it all the time....
