Moving Book from Mac to iPad

I am trying to move a book from my mac to my iPad.  Both are activated with the same email.  When I hook up the USB, and open ADE, the "Devices" option does not show up on my Mac to drag the book to it.  Can someone explain how I can get the book onto my iPad Library?  Thanks.

    ADE is registered to the same email address on both devices if that's what you mean.

    If you connect the ipad with your Mac. Was the ipad dispaly in Digital Edition?
