My nook simple touch authorization

I have seen all the discussions on here about exiting out of ADE and deleting the file from my nook. I have done this well over 10 times. My computer is authorized but no authorization method pops up when I plug in my nook. When I click on the settings option above my nook device it will not allow me to click on the "authorize device" options. I have been crying out of frustration over this for 2 hours now. Please help.
