My old computer died. I had adobe digital editions installed on it. Can't authorize new computer with my adobe id?

I had to replace my computer that I no longer have access to.  I installed Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 on my new computer. After trying to transfer ebooks from the library to my ereader, I got the computer authorization screen.  I tried to sign in using my Adobe id & got the error message that I couldn't use my adobe id to authorize my new computer bacause I had used it to authorize my old computer and or mobile device.  What do I do???
