No device appears when I open ADE

I have downloaded ADE 4.5, and downloaded a book from my local library.

However, when I connected my Kobo e-reader and opened ADE, whilst the book is there, my device is not, so I cannot transfer the book to my Kobo reader.

How can I resolve this problem, please?

    If you Reader was detected of the system you can move the file over the file system.
