Nook color suts down on ADE

I plug in Nook color, open ADE,  Nook color shows up as media

then suddenly closes, when this happens, my Nook

files state 0 files and I can't open a book,  i don't know if

there is a problem with Nook or Adobe digital or muWindows 7

, any ideas what causes this?

    I'm getting the same problem with my Nook (not Nook color) & I'm running Vista.I did manage to get it to authorize my Nook in between shut-downs, but I can't get it to stay running long enough to get library books to transfer over.
