NOOK reads correct ADE email and password (same as Adobe.com)m but my MacBook Air still has the old

HELP...I've tried everything until now. I have ADE4.5 with my NOOK. I swiched from a cox email to gmail a year ago and, while the info is now correct in NOOK the ADE opens on my computer but isn't synching with NOOK because the Macbook Air still has the old cox email for the name. I've tried all the suggested ideas for authorizing and deauthorizing but they haven't worked because the steps to deauthorize still have the cox address and I can't change that in the suggested steps.  SO...WHEN NOOK DISPLAYS THE CORRECT EMAIL AND THAT LONG CODE RATHER THAN THE PASSWORD (apple id) and my macbook air displays all the old library info until a year ago, what am I doing wrong?  THANKS
