Opening books

I cannot open my book that is downloaded into the Digital Editions program.  It keeps closing itself.  What is wrong with this program?  I am on a Mac.

    Is this issue happening with all the books or with a particular book?

    I only have one book downloaded. I just installed this program and all there is the “Getting Started with Adobe" and now my book. I can open the “Getting Started" book, but not my book. I get “Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly.” When I try to “reopen” it just keeps doing the same thing. I have deleted the program and reinstalled it all with the same results.
